Rich and Jeff’s Pub Crawl

St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl in Charlotte

According to Rich Saner, one of the founders of Rich and Jeff’s Pub Crawl, the 12th annual event scheduled to kick off on St. Paddy’s Day in Charlotte, North Carolina, is expected to be “the greatest day-drinking experience of your life.” This event began in 2001 with 73 crawlers who were friends and college classmates of long-time friends and college roommates Rich Saner and Jeff Bennett.

With a crowd expected to exceed 10,000 crawlers, this years event originates from Dixie’s Tavern on East 7th Street.

The 2011 crowd was just 13 crawlers short of 9,000. The original goal was to cover seven bars in seven hours. This year the group plans to visit approximately 20 bars within easy walking distance of one to another. This year’s ultimate goal is to maintain the crawl’s status as the largest pub crawl in the world. The crawl was featured on Travel Channel’s Extreme Wild Parties segment in 2009.

Thirty to forty volunteers are scheduled to man two registration locations in Charlotte as well as online. Crawlers are given a list of participating bars and a suggested time to arrive at each one to partake of the specialty-of-the-house beverage at each location. The registration ticket includes a tee-shirt, a koozie and all entry cover fees. Online registration at rockhouse.ticketssoeasy.com is just a mouse-click away.

Proceeds from the crawl will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Sponsors for the crawl are Tallamore Dew Irish Whiskey, Skyy Vodka and Bud Light. For the past several years, Bud Light has been producing special green aluminum cans to be shipped to the Charlotte area in time for the event. Free transportation to the kickoff location is available between 6pm and 9pm from anywhere within a 5-mile radius. Zingo Taxi Service will also offer a discount rate for their safe ride home program.

Christie’s First Blog Post

Joey RestivoToday, Joey told me that I have to be a “mommy blogger”, without the kids of course! At first I was a little skeptical as I am a horrible writer and do not find my thoughts very interesting. I asked Joey what I would have to write about. He told me I could write about anything – DIY projects, our puppy Zoey, my favorite band, and concert reviews to name a few. This led me to an idea…

My entire immediate family, consisting of my wonderful parents, little sister and two triplet sisters, live in Toledo, Ohio. I have a hard time being away from them and have decided that this would be a good way to keep them updated with my life and let them hear about my thoughts and adventures (I have not been doing as good with my phone conversations as I would like to so another form of communication might help). I started to realize that very few people will actually read my blogs so I really have nothing to lose. However, if my family reads them and feel a little more connected to me, I definitely have something to gain. I don’t know how often I will blog or what I will blog about, but I am curious to see how this turns out!

Miss all my friends and family back home!
